DOLE, handang tumalima kung magkakaroon ng batas para sa national minimum wage

Tatalima ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) oras na magkaroon ng batas para alisin ang regionalized wage setting at isulong ang isang national minimum wage.

Sa interpelasyon ni Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas, nausisa nito ang DOLE kung ano direksyon nito patungkol sa review sa RA 6727 o Wage Rationalization Act.

Isa kasi sa napuna ng mambabatas ang kawalan ng plano para sa taas sahod sa ilalim ng Philippine Labor and Employment Plan.

Tugon ni appropriations vice-chair Jay-Jay Suarez na siyang sponsor ng budget ng DOLE, may kautusan na si Labor Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma sa mag wage boards na motu proprio na magsagawa ng review sa posibleng wage hike at huwag nang hintayin na may maghain pa ng petisyon.

Sabi pa ni Suarez na kung magpapanukala ang Kongreso para sa isang national minimum wage at ito ay tuluyang maisabatas ay tatalima dito ang DOLE at ipatutupad ito. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
