Dismayado ang Department of Tourism (DOT) kasunod ng insidenteng kinasangkutan ng isang airport personnel dahil umano sa pagnanakaw nito ng pera mula sa isang dayuhan.

Matatandang nag-viral ang kuha sa CCTV ng paglunok ng sinasabing personnel sa 300 US dollar bills na nawawalang pera ng isang pasaherong paalis ng Maynila.

Binigyang-diin ng DOT sa isang pahayag na anumang uri ng krimen na ginawa laban sa isang turista ay maituturing na krimen laban sa ating bansa na nararapat lamang maparusahan batay sa mga umiiral na batas.

Kaugnay nito ay nagpahayag din ng suporta ang ahensya sa naging direktiba ni Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista na patawan ng maximum penalty ang naturang personnel sa oras na mapatunayan itong guilty sa naturang krimen.

Maaalalang naganap ang insidente noong September 8 sa Terminal 1 ng NAIA, kung saan nakita ang isang screening officer na sadyang nilulunok umano ang mga perang papel ngunit batay sa pagsisiyasat ng Office for Transportation, bukod sa babaeng nakita sa video ay mayroon pang dalawang screening personnel ang sinasabing sangkot din sa nangyaring pagnanakaw. | ulat ni EJ Lazaro
