DOTr, planong pataasin ang ‘infrastructure spending’ para sa transportasyon

Target ng Department of Transportation na pataasin ang infrastructure spending ng bansa pagdating sa transportasyon.

Ito ang tinuran ni DOTr Usec. Timothy Batan nang matanong ng isang mambabatas sa budget briefing kung masasabi ba nito na may ‘transportation crisis’ ang Pilipinas.

Aminado ang opisyal na sa nakalipas na tatlong dekada ay nagkaroon ng ‘underspending’ ang bansa pagdating sa transport infrastructure na nasa 1.5 hanggang 2 percent lang.

Kaya naman aniya, target ngayon ng Marcos Jr. administration na mapataas ito ng lima hanggang anim na porsyento.

Kaiblang aniya dito ang dagdag na kalsada, tulay at linya ng tren.

Umaasa ang opisyal na sa ‘catchup plan’ na ito ay matugunan ang kakulangan sa transportasyon.

“We have severely under-invested in transport infrastructure in the last three decades. For example po, the average po na investment natin in infrastructure for the last three decades has only been between 1.5 [and] 2 percent. The current administration po is targeting to bring that up to 5 to 6 percent and ito pong catch-up investment po na ito is precisely intended in order po to close that transport infrastructure gap that we are currently facing,” ani Batan. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
