LTO, nagdeklara ng all-out war vs. colorum na mga sasakyan

Inatasan na ni Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II ang lahat ng regional directors ng ahensya na paigtingin ang crackdown laban sa mga colorum o mga iligal na public utility vehicles (PUVs).

Kasunod ito ng naging pulong ni Asec. Mendoza kay Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista na nakatuon sa mga hakbang para mas maging ligtas ang commuters at iba pang road users.

“This has long been a problem that requires attention and sustained operations to ensure that only those granted with permits could operate. Buhay ng mga mananakay ang nakataya dito kaya dapat natin itong pagtuunan ng pansin as an agency in charge of land transportation safety,” pahayag ni Mendoza.

Sa direktiba ni Mendoza, pinasusuyod nito ang lahat ng mga out-of-line PUV upang masawata na ang operasyon ng mga kolorum.

Partikular na pinatututukan ng LTO chief ang mga anti-colorum operations sa mga bus terminal at pati na mga iligal na school services.

Giit nito, hindi lang nakakaapekto sa mga lehitimong PUV driver ang mga kolorum kundi nagiging banta rin sa riding public dahil hindi nakakasunod ang mga ito sa road worthiness parameters.

Kasama rin sa direktiba ni Mendoza ang pakikipagugnayan ng LTO regional directors sa ilan pang ahensya kabilang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at PNP Highway Patrol Group para sa pinaigting na operasyon.

“We are taking the problem on colorum very seriously. That is why we will partner with other government agencies so that we can once and for all stop their illegal operations.
