Binigyang-diin ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang pangangailangan na tutukan na ng bansa ang pamumuhunan, para sa karagdagang pondo ng bansa.
“So we need to invest more and where can funding of invest more without increasing our borrowings. And so we look into the reserves that we have which are not, in our view, being used. I think you are familiar with the concept that money cannot seat in the bank and do nothing. It must work. And so that is our way of putting that to work and partnering with private sector partners or even G to G partners.” —Pangulong Marcos Jr.
Pahayag ito ng Pangulo sa 2023 Asia Summit sa Singapore, kung saan natalakay ng Pangulo ang Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF).
Ipinunto ng Pangulo, na hindi dapat mangutang nang mangutang ang bansa.
“These will go into infrastructure, power development. Again those main elements are healthcare, all of the areas that we have identified as priorities. So, the we were able to make a list. It is really for us agriculture, its energy, its ease of doing business, it is also the tax measures that we have to transform.” — Pangulong Marcos Jr.
Ayon sa Pangulo, kahit kasi maraming financial institutions ang tumutulong sa Pilipinas, nakakaapekto pa rin ang loans nito sa figures ng utang ng bansa, kaya’t kailangan lamang na tutukan ng gobyerno ang pamumuhunan.
Pagbibigay diin ng Pangulo, hindi pamahalaan ang magpapatakbo sa MIF bagkus ay mga professional financial expert, upang hindi ito mahaluan ng politika.
“It will be run as a fund. Not run by the government. It is run by a professional fund managers. That is one of the main assurances that I have to give. It was always the concept behind it.
