Mga nakumpiskang smuggled na bigas sa Zamboanga, ituturn over ng BOC para sa government programs

Higit P42-milyon halaga ng smuggled rice ang nakumpiska ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa isang warehouse sa Zamboanga City nitong nakalipas na araw.

Ayon kay BOC-Port of Zamboanga Deputy Collector Benny Lontoc, resulta ito ng kanilang pinaigting na kampanya para labanan ang smuggling lalo na sa agri-products.

Kabilang ito sa priority program ng BOC alinsunod sa kautusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.

Batay sa kanilang imbestigasyon, walang maipakitang kaukulang imports documents ang may-ari ng inangkat na bigas.

May rekomendasyon na rin ang BOC para masampahan ng kasong kriminal ang importer ng bigas.

Sa ngayon, isinasapinal na ng BOC ang turn-over ng bigas sa concerned agency para sa government programs nito.

Samantala, inamin ni Lontoc na laganap pa rin ang smuggling activities sa bahagi ng Mindanao lalo na sa Basilan at Tawi-Tawi. | ulat ni Rey Ferrer
