Ipinaramdam ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang kaniyang pagmamalasakit sa mga magsasaka at mamimili sa atas nito na taasan ang buying price ng palay.
Ayon kay Speaker Martin Romualdez, bilang ang ating mga magsasaka ang nagdadala ng pagkain sa ating mga hapag, marapat lamang na alagaan sila.
“This shows the malasakit (compassion) our President has towards our farmers who have been working very hard for us to achieve food security. We should always take care of them. Our farmers have been the ones giving us food on our tables. So, let’s give them the respect that they truly deserve. That is why our President still sits as Agriculture Secretary in a concurrent capacity,” ani Romualdez.
Batay sa inaprubahan ng National Food Authority Council, na pinamumunuan din ni Pang.ulong Marcos Jr., itinaas sa P19 hanggang P23 ang buying price ng kada kilo ng dry palay at P16 hanggang P19 para sa wet palay.
Sa pamamagitan nito ay matitiyak ang kita ng mga magsasaka at ang abot kayang retail price ng bigas sa merkado.
Panawagan din ni Romualdez ang pinaigting na suporta sa mga magsasaka para mapalakas pa ang kanilang produksyon sa pamamagitan ng makinarya, imprastraktura, teknolohiya at gawing accessible ang pautang.
Mga foreign rice producers lang kasi aniya ang kumikita sa pagi-import natin ng bigas.
