Pilipinas, dapat maging agresibo sa paggiit ng naipanalong arbitral ruling

Dapat tindigan at agresibong igiit ng Pilipinas ang naipanalo nitong arbitral ruling kontra China.

Ito ang sinabi ni National Defense and Security Committee Vice Chair Zia Alonto Adiong.

Aniya walang halaga ang arbitral ruling kung hindi natin ito igigiit.

“Pitong taon na nang inilabas ang arbitral ruling pero hanggang sa ngayon, Pilipino pa rin ang agrabyado. Hindi natin dapat hayaan na ang ating mga kababayang mangingisda ay maging banyaga sa sarili nating teritoryo,” ani Representative Zia.

Kinontra rin nito ang pahayag ng China na Pilipinas ang nagsisimula ng gulo dahil sa ginawang pag-alis ng Philippine Coast Guard sa inilagay na floating barrier ng China sa Bajo de Masinloc.

“Hindi tayo ang nagpo-provoke. Ginagawa lang ng Philippine Coast Guard ang mandato nilang ipatupad ang maritime law sa loob ng ating exclusive economic zone,” paliwanag ng mambabatas.

Nananawagan din ang kinatawan na palakasin ang maritime defense ng bansa.

Punto nito, bilang isang arkipelagong bansa, nararapat lang na maging handa ang Pilipinas para mas masigurong napoprotektahan ang ating teritoryo at mga likas na yaman.

“Bagama’t kinikilala natin ang halaga ng diplomasya, hindi nangangahulugang dapat nating pabayaan ang ating hukbong pandagat,” aniya.

Suportado rin ni Adiong ang rekomendasyon ni Albay Representative Edcel Lagman na magsulong ng economic sanctions laban sa China bilang posibleng solusyon upang galangin nito ang arbitral ruling. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
