Welcome para kay OFW Party-list Representative Marissa Magsino ang pagbuo ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ng isang task force na tututok laban sa investment scams na bumibiktima lalo na sa mga Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).
Aniya mahalagang hakbang ito para protektahan ang financial interest ng mga OFW.
“I commend the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) for establishing a dedicated task force in response to increasing cases of investment scams affecting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). This initiative is a crucial step toward safeguarding the financial interests and well-being of our OFWs who not only sacrifice for their family’s economic stability, but significantly contribute to our nation’s economy,” ani Magsino.
Una nang nakipag-ugnayan ang tanggapan ni Magsino sa NBI tungkol sa mga ulat at reklamong natanggap nito mula sa mga OFW na na-scam.
Pinakahuli dito ay ang sa South Korea kung saan umabot pa ng hanggang ₱150-million ang perang na-scam sa mga OFW.
Pawang mga Pinoy din aniya ang nagsilbing middle-man o tulay kaya’t mahalagang matukoy kung sino ang accomplice o kasabwat sa krimen.
Mahalaga rin ani Magsino na maipaalam sa mga OFW ang tamang impormasyon kung paano maiwasang maloko at para sa mga nabiktima na, ay sapat na tulong para mahabol ang mga may-sala.
“Knowledge and awareness are key tools in reducing their vulnerability to fraud. Additionally, in cases where OFWs have fallen victim to scams, it is imperative to offer them clear and accessible avenues for assistance and redress,” sabi pa ni Magsino. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
