Isa pang mambabatas ang naglabas ng saloobin hinggil sa naging pahayag ni Ambassador Teddy Locsin Jr. tungkol sa mga batang Palestino.
Ayon kay Lanao del Sur Representative Zia Alonto Adiong walang puwang sa lipunan ng bansa at sa mga mataas na opisina ng gobyerno ang mga “dangerous, bigoted, at islamophobic” na pahayag ni Locsin.
“It is unbecoming for any Filipino, much more a high official, to visit genocidal machinations upon innocent children of any nation. An ambassador who is tasked to represent the best of our nation, a defender of our nation’s interests, must espouse our nation’s commitment to peace and humanity,” sabi ni Adiong.
Ayon pa sa vice chairperson ng House Committee on Peace Reconciliation and Unity, bilang mga opisyal ng bansa dapat ay maging maingat sa mga bibitiwang salita lalo at kinakatawan nito ang mga Pilipino.
“As government officials, we are called upon to practice restraint and wisdom with every statement we make. There should be no room for interpretation – or misinterpretation – when we speak about matters of life and death, because our words are not ours alone. We represent every Filipino of every religion, and we must treat every person with the respect and dignity we want for our people and our nation,” diin ni Adiong.
Dagdag pa nito na kailanman ay hindi makatwiran ang pagnanais na paslangin ang mga batang Palestinian, lalo na aniya at sa gitna ng gulo ngayon doon, isang bata kada 15 minuto ang nasasawi sa Gaza.
Paalala pa ni Adiong na hindi lang mga Muslim ang nakatira sa Gaza dahil mayroon ding Kristiyano doon na nadadamay sa mga pag-atake.
“Under no circumstance is the killing of Palestinian children justified, and it is no laughing matter when more than a thousand Palestinian children have lost their lives in Gaza within this past week alone. Right now, a child dies every fifteen minutes in Gaza. That said, under no circumstance should Islam – or any other religion for that matter – be so callously associated with terrorism,” sabi pa ng mambabatas.
Humingi naman na ng paumnahin si Locsin sa kaniyang naging pahayag sa social media.
