Binigyang diin ni Overseas Workers Affairs Committee Chair Ron Salo ang kahalagahan ng agarang aksyon ng pamahalaan para masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga Pilipino sa Israel bunsod na lumalalang gulo sa naturang bansa.
Kasunod ito ng pagkumpirma ng Department of Foreign Affairs na dalawang Pilipino ang nasawi dahil sa pag-atake ng grupong Hamas sa Gaza.
Muli ring ipinanawagan ni Salo ang agarang pagbuo ng Crisis Management and Response Task Force para matutukan ang mga Pinoy na naiipit sa gulo at para sila ay agad ma-repatriate.
“This unfortunate incident underscores the urgency of our response. We must take immediate and decisive steps to address the escalating situation in Israel and Gaza and ensure the safety of our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families…I reiterate my call for the creation of a dedicated Crisis Management and Response Task Force. This task force will closely monitor the situation and implement a swift and comprehensive response, ensuring the safety and welfare of our kababayans caught in the crossfire and providing the necessary support and assistance for their immediate evacuation and repatriation when needed.” ani Salo.
Nanawagan din ng Kabayan party-list solon na pahalagahan at igalang ang international humanitarian law para protektahan ang karapatan at dignidad ng mga sibilyan sa conflict zones salig sa Geneva Conventions.
“We must also emphasize the importance of upholding international humanitarian law to protect the rights and dignity of civilians in conflict zones, as stated in the Geneva Conventions. The safety of innocent lives should be of paramount concern, and we will exert all efforts to ensure this.” dagdag ng mambabatas.
Kasabay nito ay nagpaabot na rin ng pakikiramay si Salo sa pamilya at kaanak ng mga kababayan nating nasawi.
“With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of our fellow Filipinos who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
