Office of the President, hinimok na ilaan ang bahagi ng Confidential at Intelligence Fund nito para madagdagan ang pondo ng social services

Inudyukan ni Albay 1st District Representative Edcel Lagman ang Office of the President na ilaan ang bahagi ng ₱4.5-billion Confidential and Intelligence Fund nito sa ibang ahensya para pandagdag pondo sa social services.

Ayon kay Lagman maaaring gayahin ang ginawa ng Office of the Ombudsman at Office of the Solicitor General na binawasan ang CF.

Punto nito, nakatanggap naman na ng realignment ng pondo ang National Security Council at National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), na kapwa nasa ilalim ng OP.

Kung maililipat aniya ang bahagi ng CIF ng OP ay malaking tulong ito sa programa ng Departments of Health, Labor and Employment, at Social Welfare and Development, pati ang ayuda sa rice productivity at magsasaka.

Sa ilalim ng 2024 General Appropriations Bill, may ilang ahensya na napanatili ang CF pero binawasan.

Halimbawa ang Bureau of Customs at Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation and Unity na ibinalik sa 2023 level ang CF na nagkakahalaga ng ₱69.5-million at ₱54-million.

Binawasan din ang CF ng DOJ (₱168-million), Office of the Solicitor General (₱10-million) at Anti-Money Laundering Council (₱7.5-million).

Mula naman sa ₱51.4-million na Confidential Fund ng Ombudsman, ₱1-million na lang ang natira para sa CF at ang ₱50.4-million ay inilipat sa kanilang Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses o MOOE.  | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
