Welcome para kay House Committee on Agriculture and Food Chair Mark Enverga ang pag-usad ng kaso laban sa mga sangkot sa hoarding at price manipulation ng sibuyas noong nakaraang taon.
Aniya, ang pagsasampa ng kaso ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) laban sa mga indibidwal na sangkot ay patunay na produktibo ang ginawa nilang serye ng mga pagdinig sa Kamara dahil nakakuha ng sapat at matibay na ebidensya ang mga awtoridad.
“The NBI criminal cases filed against the alleged onion hoarding and price manipulation are proof the hearings we conducted in the House are productive work, produced evidence credible enough to help the NBI build its case and file the appropriate charges,” ani Enverga.
Pinasalamatan naman ng mambabatas si Speaker Martin Romualdez at mga kasamahan sa kanilang paninindigan na tukuyin at panagutin ang nasa likod ng pagsipa ng presyo ng sibuyas ng hanggang ₱700 kada kilo.
“I thank Speaker Martin Romualdez for his resolve and direction which helped keep the hearings going. I also thank my colleagues in the House who were also resolute in making sure justice is secured for the Filipino people who suffer because of the hoarders and manipulators,” dagdag nito.
Positibo ang Quezon representative na gaya ng sinabi ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, masusundan pa ang pagsasampa ng mga kaso sa tulong ng mga impormasyon at salaysay na nakalap sa pagdinig ng kanilang komite.
Hindi na rin aniya siya magugulat kung isailalim na sa preventive suspension ang mga kawani ng pamahalaan na sangkot sa isyu.
“The just-filed onion price manipulation cases are but the first wave. Those are the first set of criminal charges. There are also administrative and civil cases along with the criminal cases. The NBI was confident enough about their cases, so we believe the evidence are strong enough for trial,” sabi pa ni Enverga. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
