Pagkakabit ng transponders sa mga bangkang pangisda, isinusulong ng mga mambabatas para di na maulit ang banggaan sa karagatan

Maliban sa mga imprastraktura, handang suportahan ng Kamara ang paglalaan ng pondo para kabitan ng transponders sa mga bangkang pangisda ng mga Pilipinong mangingisda.

Ito ang inihayag ni Speaker Martin Romualdez matapos ang kanilang pagbisita sa Pag-asa Island.

Ayon sa House leader ang kanilang pagtungo sa Pag-asa Island ay bunsod na rin ng nangyaring trahedya sa Bajo de Masinloc kung saan tatlong mangingisda ang namatay matapos mabangga ng foreign crude oil tanker.

Aniya mayroon transponders ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) na maaaring ikabit sa lahat ng fishing vessel sa lugar.

“So we’re thinking of not only providing shelters for the fisher folk, but it has come to our knowledge that it is possible that transponders that are available from the BFAR should be installed in all fishing vessels in the area. I understand that there’s a program that is being undertaken now in only 2,000 of the possible 3,000 vessels that are being equipped for free with transponders,” sabi ng House Speaker.

Sa paraang ito, makikita sa radar map ng ibang sea vessel ang mga bangkang pangisda ng mga Pilipino nang hindi na maulit ang insidente.

Sa kasalukuyan maaari aniya makabitan ang 2,000 bangka ng naturang transponders ng libre.

Kaya’t hahanapan nila ng paraan na malagyan ang lahat ng nasa 3,000 bangka sa lugar ng naturang device.

“These are the AIS systems where in each vessel can be identified within the radar mapping system of other vessels as to the exact location and the identification or registry of the vessels with the AIS.
