Lalo pang lumalim ang relasyong bilateral gayundin ang ugnayang pangkalakalan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Australia.

Ito’y kasunod ng pagbisita nila Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo at Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual sa Adelaide.

Doon kanilang nakapulong sina Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Penny Wong at Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator Don Farrell.

Dito muling pinagtibay ng Pilipinas at Australia ang commitment nito na magkaroon ng isang bukas, matatag, at maunlad na rehiyon nang may paggalang sa kapayapaan gayundin sa soberenya ng bawat bansa.

Nangako rin ang mga ministro at kalihim sa isa’t isa sa pagkakaroon ng bukas na komunikasyon upang maiwasan ang anumang sigalot sa mga rehiyon ng ASEAN at Indo-Pasipiko salig sa 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Tiniyak din ng dalawang bansa ang pagpapalalim ng relasyon nito sa kalakalan, pamumuhunan gayundin ang ugnayang pang-ekonomiya at pagtataguyod ng makabuluhang oportunidad sa merkado.  | ulat ni Jaymark Dagala
