Kahit naka-break ngayon ang Kongreso ay magpapatuloy ang House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs sa pagdaraos ng mga pagdinig upang talakayin ang mga panukala na makapagbibigay ng benepisyo sa mga OFW.
Ayon kay Kabayan party-list Rep. Ron Salo, ito ay salig na rin sa atas ni Speaker Martin Romualdez upang maipakita ang suporta ng Kamara sa mga programa ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. para sa Filipino migrant workers.
“Upon the instruction of Speaker Romualdez, my panel will be holding a comprehensive public consultations and hearing in order to gather input and insights from various stakeholders in the development of robust plans and policies to help the Marcos administration better support returning OFWs. This is a testament to the genuine desire of the House of Representatives to effectively fulfill its mandate and responsibility to the Filipino people amid all the political noise.” ani Salo.
Bilang chair ng komite, ay tatalima si Salo, lalo na’t marami aniyang kinahaharap na hamon ngayon ang OFW, gaya na lamang ng repatriation ng mga naiipit ngayon sa gulo sa pagitan ng Israel at Hamas.
Sa ngayon, uunahin aniya nilang talakayin ang mga panukala na makakatulong sa mga OFW upang maging madali ang kanilang muling pananatili sa bansa.
Halimbawa nito ang pagbuo ng pension system para sa mga OFW, financial assistance at scholarship para sa dependents at kanilang pamilya at pagbibigay ng re-training katuwang ang TESDA
