China, pumayag na sa isang resolusyon ng APPF committee na magbabanggit sa UNCLOS at freedom at navigation sa South China Sea

Tinanggap na ng China ang pagbanggit sa 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) at freedom of navigation sa resolusyon patungkol sa pagpapalakas ng kapasidad ng mga parliament-members sa pagsusulong ng kapayapaan at katatagan sa rehiyon.

Sa pulong balitaan sa pagtatapos ng 31st Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), sinabi ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, na tumayong Chairman ng Executive Committee ng APPF, na ‘good news’ at maituturing na ‘breakthrough’ ang pagpayag ng China na maisama sa inaprubahang resolusyon ang pagbanggit sa UNCLOS at freedom of navigation at flight sa South China Sea.

Binanggit ng Senate president na ang bersyon ng tinanggap ng China ay mula sa ammendment ng Pilipinas.

Itinuturing rin ni Zubiri, na isang mahalagang tagumpay ng APPF ang pagkilala at pagsang-ayon ng China sa UNCLOS at freedom of navigation at flight sa South China Sea at West Philippine Sea.

Ngayon lang aniya nangyari sa APPF ang pagpayag ng China na kilalanin ang UNCLOS at freedom of navigation sa rehiyon. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
