Nanindigan si Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante na hindi POGO ang sagot para sa dagdag na pondo ng pamahalaan
Sa privilege speech ng House Committee on Human Rights chairperson, pinayuhan nito ang pamahalaan na maghanap ng iba pang alternatibo kaysa sa umasa sa kita mula sa mga POGO.
Diin ng mambabatas, hindi na sapat ang regulasyon sa POGO dahil sa dami ng iligal na aktibidad na kinasasangkutan nito.
” It is evident that the revenues accrued from POGOs come at the cost of our nation’s soul and the well-being of our people. The treasures they bring are ill-gotten, and we must not allow them to bring us down a path that leads us to perdition. Batid ko po na kailangan ng gobyerno ng pondo. PONDO, HINDI POGO. I contend that our government must seek alternative revenue streams that do not rely on so-called “harmless vices” that ultimately lead to corrupt and unlawful activities.” diin ni Abante.
Isa sa tinukoy ng mambabatas ay ang natuklasang torture chamber sa isang POGO hub na ni-raid sa Pasay.
Dagdag pa nito na sa mga pagdinig ng Kamara, nabunyag ang POGO bilang “breeding ground” ng korapsyon, imoralidad at bawal na aktibidad, prostitusyon, iligal na droga at “modern-day slavery”.
Katunayan nito lamang Oktubre 30 ay may insidente ng abduction ng POGO workers kung saan may mga Pilipinong nadamay.
Lalo pa aniya nakababahala na may ilang pulis o sundalo na nagsisilbing “bodyguards” ng mga Chinese na nagta-trabaho sa POGO.
Kaya naman giit ni Abante na panahon nang isara ang pinto ng bansa para sa mga POGO.
