Pilipinas, muling iginiit ang kahagahan ng pagtalima sa rules-based order, dayalogo at diplomasya sa pagresolba sa mga isyu

Binigyang diin ni Speaker Martin Romualdez ang kahandaan ng Pilipinas na sumunod sa rules-based order at isulong ang diplomasiya at dayalogo sa pagresolba ng anomang hindi pagkakaunawaan.

Sa inaugural ceremony ng 31st Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum, sinabi ni Romualdez na suportado ng Pilipinas ang pagsunod sa rules based order at iba pang international law.

Tinukoy pa nito ang 1982 Manila Declaration on Peaceful Settlement of Disputes kung saan nakasaad na lahat ng gulo o dispute ay kailangan resolbahin sa mapayapang pamamaraan.

Punto pa nito na ang pagpasok sa judicial procedure kasama na ang arbitration ay hindi ‘unfriendly act’ bagkus ay isang pamamaraan ng pagiging isang responsableng global citizen.

Maliban dito, binigyaang diin din ni Romualdez ang kahalagahan na tumalima sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Bagamat walang resolusyon na partikular na tumatalakay sa isyu sa West Philippine Sea, naghain ng resolusyon ang Indonesia na hayagang nananawagan para sa pagkulala at pagtalima sa UNCLOS.

Naniniwala naman si Romualdez na ang APPF ang magsisilbing plataporma para sa magkaroon ng consensus ang mga kasaping bansa. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
