Pinapurihan ni Rizal 4th District Representative Fidel Nograles ang atas ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan na tapusin at kumpletuhin ang lahat ng water-related projects hanggang April 2024.
Ito ay sa gitna pa rin ng banta ng tag tuyot dahil sa El Niño phenomenon.
Ipinapakita aniya nito ang commitment ng pamahalaan na protektahan ang taumbayan mula sa epekto ng El Niño.
Umaasa naman ang mambabatas na hindi lang basta sundin ng mga ahensya ang utos na ito ng presidente bagkus ay higitan pa.
“The President’s order signifies the government’s commitment to protect our people from the harsh effects of the coming drought. I hope that our agencies tasked with overseeing these projects will not only comply, but seek to exceed expectations,” sabi ni Nograles
Tinukoy nito, na maaaring kaharapin ng Pilipinas ang pinakamalalang tag tuyot o drought matapos ang 10 bagyo lang ang dumating sa bansa mula sa karaniwang 20.
“Time is of the essence, and every moment of inaction will lead to more families being affected by the drought,” dagdag pa niya.
Kaya rin aniya napapanahon ang pagkakapasa ng House Bill No. 9663, o National Water Resources Act, na siyang magtatatag sa Department of Water, o ang isang ahensya na tututok sa pamamahala ng tubig. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
