Inaasahang malalagdaan na bukas (December 20) ang P5.76-trillion na pambansang pondo ng Pilipinas para sa 2024.
Sa panayam kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. matapos ang matagumpay na pakikibahagi sa ASEAN – Japan Commemorative Summit sa Tokyo, sinabi nito na ang nilalaman ng naratipikahang national budget ay hindi naman masyadong nalalayo sa orihinal na National Expenditure Program (NEP) na isinumite ng Ehekutino sa Kongreso.

Bagamat mayroon aniyang gap ang kailangang mapunan sa pagitan ng pondo na ilalan ng pamahalaan at sa pondo na nakulekta na ng gobyerno, kumpiyansa ang pangulo na magagawan ito ng paraan.
“Although, if we — what we have to do now is that there is still a gap, a differential between the appropriated funds and the funds that we have collected thus far.” —Pangulong Marcos Jr.
Ito ayon sa pangulo ay dahil maraming pagbabago sa sistema ng Customs, BIR collection, at iba pang hakbang na magpapataas ng revenue ng bansa, ang pinagi-igting pa ng administrasyon.
“So, there’s a certain amount that we now have extra, that we now have to collect but I’m confident in that because we’re changing the system in Customs, we’re changing — well, the BIR has been very efficient at making the collections but we are still providing new initiatives to make business easier, and also to increase our collection.” —Pangulong Marcos. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
