Kinumpirma ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) ang pag-isyu ng Office of the President (OP) ng 90-day preventive suspension laban kay CHED Commissioner Aldrin Darilag dahil sa umano’y grave misconduct, neglect in the performance of duty, at abuse of authority.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni CHED Chair Popoy de Vera na inatasan din ng OP ang komisyon na magkasa ng fact-finding investigation hinggil sa kaso ng commissioner at upang madetermina kung may basehan para isyuhan ito ng kaso.
Tiniyak naman ni De Vera na masusing iimbestigahan nito ang isyu at magsusumite ng progress report at rekomendasyon sa OP.
“CHED will look into the matter seriously and fairly. We are committed to President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s directive and vision that only the best, brightest, and most ethical individuals should lead our government,” ani CHED Chairman Popoy De Vera.
Makakaasa rin aniya ang OP na hindi maiimpluwensyahan ni Commissioner Darilag ang imbestigasyon at dadaan ito sa due process.
“I call on the CHED officials and employees, including the higher education community, to exercise their duties and power consistent with the principle that public office is a public trust,” panawagan ni De Vera.
Samantala, itatalaga naman ng CHED sa iba munang commissioner ang 30 state universities and colleges (SUCs) kung saan nakapwesto si Darilag bilang Chair-designate of the Board of Regents. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
