Binigyang-linaw ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na hindi aabot sa 38,000 PUJ operators at drivers ang mawawalan ng trabaho dahil sa PUV Modernization Program pagsapit ng February 1, 2024.
Batay sa inilabas na datos ng LTFRB, nasa 97.18% ng mga confirmed PUJ units sa Metro Manila ang nakapag-consolidate na bilang bahagi ng PUV Modernization Program.
Katumbas ito ng 21,655 units mula sa 22,284 units na nakapagsumite ng kumpirmasyon para mairehistro ang kanilang unit sa Land Transportation Office (LTO) noong 2023.
Dahil dito, maliit na bilang na lamang o nasa 629 confirmed units ang bigong makapag-consolidate matapos ang deadline noong Disyembre.
Ayon sa LTFRB, ang operators/drivers ng mga unit na ito ay maaaring sumailalim sa social support program (EnTSUPERneur) ng DOLE.
Kaugnay nito, nilinaw ng LTFRB na bago pa ang consolidation deadline, nasa 21,000 PUJs na ang dalawang taong hindi nairerehistro, na siya namang maituturing nang pag-abandona sa ruta at sapat na dahilan para sa kanselasyon ng kanilang CPC.
“It is also worth noting that of the 42,642 authorized PUJs in NCR, 21,042 units have failed to confirm/register their units for the past two consecutive years (2022 & 2023) – way before the consolidation deadline and despite the waiver of fees and penalities accorded to PUV operators by LTFRB and LTO with respect to registration of units. Under LTFRB rules, failure to confirm/register units for two consecutive years is deemed abandonment of route (and a cause for cancellation of CPC),” pahayag ng LTFRB. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
