Pag-aangkat ng poultry products mula Japan, pansamantalang ipinagbawal ng Department of Agriculture

Nagpatupad ang Department of Agriculture (DA) ng pansamantang pagbabawal sa pag-aangkat ng mga poultry product mula sa Japan dahil sa outbreak ng avian influenza.

Kabilang sa pansamantalang ipinagbabawal ang pag-aangkat ng itlog at day-old na sisiw mula sa nasabing bansa.

Batay sa memorandum order na nilagdaan ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., ipinag-utos din ang pagsuspinde sa pag-isyu ng sanitary at phytosanitary import clearance para sa pagpasok sa bansa ng mga wild bird at poultry product mula sa Japan.

Ayon sa DA, ibabalik, kukumpiskahin o kaya ay sisirain ang mga poultry product at wild bird na naipadala o naibiyahe na matapos ang November 10, 2023.

Ang import ban ay inilabas ng DA matapos iulat ng Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries ng Japan sa World Health Organization for Animal Health ang pagkalat ng Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza noong November 28, 2023.

Partikular na natukoy ang outbreak ng H5N1 strain sa mga wild at domesticated birds noong November 24 sa Kashima City.

Sinabi naman ni Secretary Laurel, na ang pagpapatupad ng nasabing ban ay upang maprotektahan ang local poultry industry laban sa H5N1 avian influenza. | ulat ni Diane Lear
