Nanawagan si Senador Sherwin Gatchalian sa pamahalaan na bilisan na ang energy hybridization o ang paggamit ng dalawa o higit pang mapagkukunan ng kuryente sa off-grid areas para matiyak ang mababang singil sa kuryente.
Ang panawagan ng mambabatas ay kasunod ng mungkahi ng National Power Corp. (NPC) na muling itaas ang singil sa kuryente sa mga off-grid na lugar sa gitna ng tumataas na presyo ng krudo.
Ang off-grid areas ay ang mga lugar sa bansa na hindi pa konektado sa grid at sineserbisyuhan ng mga small power utilities group (SPUG).
Pinaliwanag ni Gatchalian, na ang mungkahing taas singil ng NPC ay maaaring magresulta sa mas mataas na rate ng kuryente na higit P9.7 kada kilowatt-hour (kWh) o katumabas ng 17.5 percent na pagtaas kumpara sa kasalukuyang rate.
Binigyang diin ng senador, na makakatulong ang hybridization na matiyak ang tuloy-tuloy na suplay ng enerhiya sa mga lugar na hindi konektado sa grid.
Gayundin aniya ang pagtitiyak na maalis ang pagiging dependent ng ating bansa sa imported na gasolina at maparami ang renewable energy sources ng bansa.
