May alinlangan si Lanao del Sur Representative Zia Alonto Adiong sa planong pagsasabay ng plebesito ng economic charter change sa 2025 mid-term elections.
Ito’y matapos ihayag ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri na nais umano ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na isabay na lang ang plebisito para sa economic Charter Change sa midterm polls batay umano sa kanilang pag-uusap.
Punto ni Adiong posibleng mauwi lamang sa ‘political contest’ ang ganitong hakbang at maaaring masira ang intensyon ng administrasyon kung ilalapit ang timeline ng Charter amendments sa eleksyon.
Hindi aniya kasi malayo na magamit ang economic cha-cha sa campaign slogan.
“Ako personally, I would want that to end as soon as possible time because come 2025 it would be an election season. And the reason why we are fast-tracking this discussion, this amendment is we want to insulate this from political innuendos and political interpretation. This might be used as a campaign slogan. So if we want to pass that and simultaneously doon sa holding of the election, this will open up to several political interpretations and this might be used as a political campaign and masisira ang pinaka-intention ng administration,” sabi ni Adiong.
Ito rin aniya ang dahilan kung bakit binibigyang prayoridad ng Kamara ang pagtalakay sa Resolution of Both Houses No. 7.
Mainam din aniya na matapos ang pagtalakay sa RBH 7 bago ang Holy Week break ng Kongreso gaya na rin ng naunang pangako ng Senado.
“I personally would want this discussion on the economic provision done before the break for the Holy Week. Actually, that’s the original plan eh… Gusto natin na tapusin ang usapin ng economic provisions sa Constitution at hindi dapat may maging subject to political contest.
