Inudyukan ni Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte ang Bureau of Internal Revenue na bigyan ng tax incentive o credit ang mga supermarket, grocery at retail stores na tatalima sa bagong kautusan na nagbibigay ng mas mataas na diskwento para sa basic goods ng mga senior citizen at persons with disabilities.
Ayon kay Villafuerte, bagamat good news na mula sa P65 kada linggo na diskwento sa binibiling basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) ng mga senior at PWD ay itinaas na ito sa P125, ay mayroon din naman itong epekto sa mga tindahan.
Aniya, makatutulong kung magbibigay ang BIR ng tax breaks sa mga supermarket at tindahan na upang masiguro na tatalima sila sa bagong polisiya.
“Such a tax break would spell financial relief for them—and help ensure their greater compliance with this new House-initiated economic benefit for our seniors and PWDs in the face of the ever-spiraling cost of basic commodities. Making price-discounted groceries bought by our seniors and PWDs available for tax breaks or deductions by the supermarkets and other establishments where these were procured will somehow ensure greater compliance by retail outlets” ani Villafuerte.
Punto ng mambabatas, maaari kasi na itaas lang ng mga grocery ang presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin, upang makabawi sa mawawalang kita dahil sa mas mataas na diskwento.
Dagdag pa ng kongresista na kamakailan lang ay inaprubahan ng Department of Trade and Industry ang price increase sa 40 BNPC goods.
“If the BIR does not consider granting tax credits to retail outlets, there is a greater possibility for supermarkets or grocery stores to ignore this would-be policy or jack up the prices of their BNPC items to cancel out the discounts of seniors and PWDs who would buy from them,” sabi ng mambabatas. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
