DENR, pag-aaralang maigi kung tuluyang ipatitigil ang operasyon ng pool resort na itinayo sa gitna ng Chocolate Hills sa Bohol

Pag-aaralang maaigi ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) kung tuluyan nitong ipatitigil ang operasyon ng The Captain’s Peak Garden and Resort na itinayo sa gitna ng Chocolate Hills sa Bohol.

Sa pulong balitaan ngayon hapon, sinabi ni Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Juan Miguel Cuna na kailangang pag-aralang mabuti ang magiging susunod na hakbang ng ahensya dahil isang private property ang kinalalagyan ng pool resort, pero ito aniya ay walang Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).

Ang ECC ay tumitiyak na ang proyektong itatayo ay hindi magkakaroon ng negatibong epekto sa kalikasan.

Ayon kay Cuna, nagtayo na ng pool resort ang Captain’s Peak kahit wala pa itong ECC. Ito aniya ay malinaw na paglabag sa batas.

Giit pa ng opisyal, alam ng nasabing pool resort na hindi ito nag-apply ng ECC hanggang sa inihain na ng DENR ang closure order noong September 2023.

Sinabi naman ni Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Antonia Loyaza, na bagamat nag-apply ito ng aplikasyon online ay hindi naman kumpleto ang mga isinumiteng mga dokumento.

Nanawagan naman ang kalihim sa Kongreso na maipasa na ang mga batas na bubuo sa enforcement bureau ng DENR, upang mapadali ang mga proseso ng paghahain ng mga cease and desist order ng ahensya.
