Napipintong pagbasak ng NPA sa Visayas, inaasahan ng militar

Nasa bingit ng kamatayan na ang New People’s Army (NPA) sa Visayas.

Ito ang inihayag ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Visayas Command (Viscom) Acting Commander Commodore Oscar D. Canlas Jr. matapos na magtamo ng “devastating losses” ang mga teroristang komunista sa rehiyon sa pagtatapos ng unang quarter ng taon.

Ayon kay Commo. Canlas, 51 teroristang komunista ang nanutralisa sa 44 na armadong engkwentro sa Visayas mula Enero 1 ng taong kasalukuyan.

Kabilang dito ang tatlong matataas na NPA lider na sina: Rolando Caballera alyas Chow/Brooks, na miyembro ng NPA Regional Executive Committee in Eastern Visayas; Domingo Compoc alyas Cobra/Silong, ang top NPA leader sa Bohol; at si Rena Rhea Camariosa alyas Kira/Sheena, ang 2nd Deputy Secretary ng NPA Southern Panay Front (SPF).

Bukod sa pagkalagas ng pwersa ng NPA, nabawasan din ang kanilang mga armas sa pagkakarekober ng militar ng 68 high at low-powered firearms sa loob ng nabanggit na panahon.
