Pagsisiyasat sa pagdami ng Chinese students sa Cagayan, di dahil sa Sinophobia at racism ayon sa isang mambabatas

Nanindigan si Surigao del Sur Representative Robert Ace Barbers na walang halong racism o Sinophobia ang planong imbestigasyon sa pagdami ng mga ng Chinese student sa Cagayan na isa sa mga Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites.

Ang tugon ni Barbers ay kasunod ng pahayag ng civic leader na si Teresita Ang See, na tinatawag na Sinophobia at racism ang napaulat na imbestigasyon sa pagdagsa ng mga mag-aaral na pawang Chinese nationals sa Cagayan.

Punto ni Barbers, bukas na tinatanggap ng Pilipinas ang lahat ng dayuhan, mapa turista o mamumuhunan, na ligal ang pagbisita sa bansa.

“Alam mo, iyong mga nagsasabing Sinophobia at saka racism iyon, sila iyong may ganoong tendency. Tayo ay nagtatanong – national security iyong concern. Buti sana kung marites lang ito. Buti sana kung iyong pinag-uusapan dito ay iyong kapitbahay lang natin. But this is a national security issue. And because this is a national security issue, hindi masama na magduda tayo, hindi masama na magtanong tayo at hindi rin masama na imbestigahan natin iyon,” diin ni Barbers

Payo pa ng mambabatas, na dapat bantayan mismo ng Chinese community ang kanilang mga kasamahan lalo at ilan sa kanila ang nasasangkot sa iligal na gawain.

“Sabi ko nga kanina, welcome ang mga Chinese. Iyong na-raid na bahay sa Taguig at sa Multinational na kung saan may mga mataas na kalibre ng baril na nahuli, hindi po ba involved ang Chinese? So, I would urge the Chinese community, the Filipino-Chinese community na kung maaari po sana, you your ranks. We’re not anti-China dito,” sabi ni Barbers

Maging si Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. ay sinang ayunan si Barbers, at sinabi na lahat ng mga dayuhan ay malugod na tinatanggap ng Pilipinas bastat lehitimo ang pakay nila sa bansa.

“Maski anong lahi pa man iyan, maski Filipino nga eh, basta mali ang ginagawa mo, ang mali ay mali ganoon ka-simple lang iyon.  Nagkataon lamang siguro na iyon ang lahi na iniimbestigahan.” ani Abalos | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
