Itinutulak ni House Ways and Means Committee chair Joey Salceda ang pagkakaroon ng hiwalay na senior citizens insurance program sa ilalim ng Philhealth.
Kasunod ito ng pagsalang sa deliberasyon ng House Committee on Health ng kaniyang House bill 52 o Philhealth Reform Act.
Giit ni Salceda, kadalasan ang mga senior citizen pa ang mayroong malaking out-of-pocket expenses sa mga ospital gayong limitado o wala silang pera.
Sakaling maisabatas, maaari aniya kunin ang pampondo para sagutin ang “catastrophic health expenditure” mila sa mga bagong SIN Tax at kita ng PCSO at PAGCOR gayundin ang sobrang pondo ng Philhealth.
“We have a duty to provide dignified old age and quality care for senior citizens. They didn’t get the best cards in life. So, they didn’t get to save enough for pension and elderly health care.
