Tinapos na ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality ang pagtalakay nito sa panukalang Magna Carta of Children (Senate Bill 2612).

Suportado ng iba’t ibang ahensya at opisina ng gobyerno maging ng mga pribadong grupo at organisasyon ang naturang panukala.

Binigyang-diin ni Committee Chairperson Senador Risa Hontiveros na napapanahon nang maisabatas ang Magna Carta of Children para maiwasan na ang mga kaso ng pang-aabuso sa mga kabataan.

Ang naturang panukala ang magbibigay ng legal framework para sa pagkilala, pagprotekta, at pagtataguyod ng karapatan ng mga kabataan.

Magsisilbi aniya itong gabay sa pagbuo ng gobyerno ng mga polisiya at programa para sa mga kabataan.

Sa pagdinig, iminungkahi ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na masaklaw ang right to justice ng mga kabataan para hindi sila matakot na magsumbong.

Idinulog naman ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang pagkakaroon ng mga programa o serbisyo ng pamahalaan para maiwasan ang child labor sa bansa. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
