MMDA at LGUs, puspusan na ang paghahanda sa paparating na La Niña

Puspusan na ang paghahanda ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at local government units (LGUs) sa paparating na tag-ulan at La Niña.

Sa pulong ngayong hapon sa Pasig City ng MMDA kasama ang Department of Public Works and Highways at mga kinatawan ng LGU, sinabi ni MMDA Acting Chairperson Atty. Don Artes na isa sa mga pangunahing dahilan ng paulit-ulit na pagbaha ay ang basura na bumabara sa mga daluyan ng tubig. Gayundin ang maliit na volume capacity ng tubig sa mga drainage system.

Aniya, ilang mga pumping station ang ginagawa at ina-upgrade ngayon sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Metro Manila upang matugunan ang matagal ng problema sa baha.

Sa ngayon, nasa 71 pumping stations ang operational.

Samantala, patuloy din ang ginagawang drainage declogging ng MMDA at paglalagay ng mga trash trap sa mga estero para maiwasan ang mga pagbaha.

Muli namang nanawagan ang MMDA sa publiko na itapon sa tamang lugar ang kanilang mga basura upang hindi magbara sa mga daluyan ng tubig. | ulat ni Diane Lear
