Humiling si Bukidnon Representative Jonathan Keith Flores sa Department of Justice (DOJ) at Department of Budget and Management (DBM) na bigyan ang National Bilibid Prisons (NBP) ng mga non-invasive body search assets.
Kasunod ito pagkabahala ng kinatawan sa ginawang strip search sa ilang kaanak ng persons deprived of liberty (PDL) na dumalaw sa NBP, kung saan ang isa ay senior citizen.
Ayon sa mambabatas, nakakawala ng dignidad ang ginawa sa lola.
Kaya para hindi na aniya ito maulit mainam na paglaanan ng mga makinang ginagamit sa major airports at mga drug-sniffing dogs ang National Penitentiary.
Kung mayroon din aniyang maipapahiram o maido-donate na gamit ang Office of Transportation Security ay mas mainam.
“I urge the DOJ and DBM to look for the funds needed to make an emergency purchase to address the urgent need. While waiting for the emergency purchase to happen, maybe the DOJ and Bureau of Corrections can borrow the equipment from the Office of Transportation Security, if OTS has the equipment to spare for NBP. Sourcing the drugs-sniffing dogs would be easier to do because there are various government agencies and private firms with such kinds of dogs,” sabi ni Flores.
Apela rin ng mambabatas na magsagawa ng training sa gender sensitivity at respeto para sa senior citizens para sa mga jail guard ng NBP at iba pang mga pasilidad ng Bureau of Corrections.
Bago ito ay una nang inilapit ni ACT Teachers Party-list Representative France Castro sa House Committee on Human Rights ang napaulat na strip search upang masiyasat.
