Sumasalamin lamang sa pagkilala ng international community sa mga hamong kinahaharap ng Pilipinas, ang pag-imbita sa bansa na maging keynote speaker sa International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Dialogue sa Singapore sa Biyernes.
Ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., mahalaga ang pag-imbita sa Pilipinas sa dayalong ito, kung saan tinatalakay ang global issues sa linya ng depensa at seguridad, na kinahaharap ng iba’t ibang bansa sa buong mundo.
“I think it’s highly significant, the invitation in itself is highly significant. The fact that they ask a Philippine President to come and speak on that very summit is very significant in the sense that it is a recognition of the challenges that we are facing, Philippines specifically. And not only the Philippines but it affects the region and it affects the world,” pahayag ng Pangulong Marcos.
Sinabi pa ng Pangulo na ilalatag niya sa talakayang ito ang posisyon ng Pilipinas, sa aspetong legal, geopolitical, at diplomasya.
Aniya, ibabahagi rin ng bansa ang mga nakikita nitong paraan, para sa pagsulong, sa gitna ng mga hamong ito.
“What I will present in the Shangri La forum on the day after tomorrow, is I’m going to try and explain the position of the Philippines both legally and geopolitically, and diplomatically. And how we see the ways forward for the Philippines and the region,” paliwanag ng Pangulong Marcos.
Kung matatandaan, mag-a-alas-5 ng hapon kahapon, May 29, nang dumating sa Singapore ang Pangulo, mula sa matagumpay na State Visit sa Brunei.
“Dati ang pinag-uusapan lang, Asia Pacific, pero ang West Philippine Sea ay napakahalaga niyan sa international trade that we can actually say that the stakeholders are no longer limited to ASEAN, Asia, Indo Pacific, it involves the global economy already that is why I think the Philippine position is going to be important in the decision-making of many of the policymakers around the world,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
