Muling kinilala ng Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) ang Pilipinas dahil sa mataas na pamantayan ng pagsasanay at sertipikasyon ng mga marino.

Ang pagsasamang ito sa Whitelist ng International Maritime Organization (IMO) ay nangangahulugang ang mga Pilipinong marino ay nakakatugon sa mga mahigpit na internasyonal na pamantayan ng Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping Convention.

Ayon kay Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, layon ng pamahalaan na maging “Marine Capital of the World” ang Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng patuloy na pagbibigay ng de-kalidad na marino sa industriya.

Sinisikap ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na tugunan ang mga hamon na kinakaharap ng maritime industry upang makamit ang reputasyong ito.

Ang kumpirmasyon ng IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) ay patunay nang buong pagsunod ng Pilipinas sa STCW Convention. | ulat ni Diane Lear
