DA, palalawakin ang food hubs sa bansa

Target ng Department of Agriculture na magtayo ng maraming food hubs sa bansa bilang bahagi ng logistics roadmap ng pamahalaan.

Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., ang mga hub na ito ay magsisilbing daan para direktang madala at maibenta ng mga magsasaka at kooperatiba ang kanilang mga produkto.

Mas magiging madali rin dito ang mga transaksyon sa mga mamimili lalo sa mga pakyawan kung mamili.

Layon din aniya ng mas malawak na roadmap para sa logistics ang mapahusay ang supply chain ng agrikultura, at matiyak ang sapat na suplay ng mga produktong pang-agrikultura sa abot-kayang presyo.

“We lack food terminals in the country—places where buyers and sellers could transact on a wholesale level. This food hub will be part of the DA’s logistics roadmap,” ayon sa kalihim.

Sa ngayon, isa sa mga target na unang buksang food hub ay sa Marikina’s BFCT Bagsakan Center kung saan magkakaroon din ng cold storage at dry warehouses.
