Ipinanawagan ng Embahada ng Tsina sa Pilipinas ang agarang pagbabawal ng mga Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) sa bansa upang masugpo umano ang mga suliraning nakakabit dito.
Ito ay matapos ang mga serye ng raid ng mga awtoridad sa mga POGO hub, na nagresulta sa pagkaka-detain ng maraming suspek, kabilang ang mga Chinese national.
Binanggit ng embahada na ang POGO ay konektado sa mga malalang krimen tulad ng kidnapping, human trafficking, at pagpatay, na nakasasama sa parehong interes ng Tsina at Pilipinas.
Sa batas umano ng gobyerno ng China, ipinagbabawal nito ang anumang uri ng pagsusugal. Mahigpit din umanong binabantayan ng gobyerno ng China ang mga mamamayang Tsino na nakikibahagi sa negosyo ng pagsusugal sa ibang bansa kabilang ang POGO.
Sa mga nakalipas na taon, aktibong din umanong nakikipagtulungan ito sa mga awtoridad ng Pilipinas upang labanan ang cross-border gambling at fraud, na nagresulta sa pagpapa-deport ng halos 3,000 Chinese mula noong 2018.
Sa nakaraang taon lamang, nagresulta ang mga pinagsamang pagsisikap ng dalawang bansa sa pagsasara ng limang POGO hub at pagpapa-uwi ng halos 1,000 indibidwal.
Binibigyang-diin din nito ang negatibong epekto ng POGO sa relasyon ng Tsina at Pilipinas kasabay nang pagtanggi nito sa mga walang basehang akusasyon laban sa Tsina kaugnay ng mga aktibidad na may kinalaman sa POGO. | ulat ni EJ Lazaro
