Malaki ang pasasalamat ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez sa pagsuporta ng international community laban sa patuloy na agresyon ng China sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Kasunod ito ng paglagda ng 33 parliamentarians mula European Union at 23 iba pang bansa kasama ang Pilipinas, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, France, Norway, at Sweden sa kolektibong pahayag ng Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) para kondenahin ang mga agresibo nitong aktibidad sa naturang karagatan.
Isa si Rodriguez sa dalawang Pilipinong mambabatas na lumagda sa pahayag, ang isa ay si Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Adrian Michael Amatong.
“We thank them and appreciate their support for our country, which has been at the receiving end of China’s intrusive and aggressive activities in the West Philippine Sea and inside our own 200-mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ),” sabi ni Rodriguez.
Nakasaad sa pahayag ang pagkondena sa agresibo at provocative behavior ng Chinese Coast Guard sa Spratly Island.
Tinukoy din dito, na walang basehan ang ‘no trespass’ rule ng China sa Second Thomas Shoal o Ayungin Shoal na malinaw na sakop ng exclusive economic zone ng Pilipinas salig sa 2016 Arbitral Ruling.

Ipinaalala din ng grupo sa China, na walang international body ang kumikilala sa kanilang inaangking teritoryo.
Kinilala naman ng mga parliamentarians ang Armed Forces of the Philippines sa pagtitimpi sa kabila ng pangha-harass ng China.
Nanawagan din sila na magpahayag ng pakikiisa sa Pilipinas na patuloy na nakakaranas ng agresibong panghihimasok mula sa China.
