Sapat na subsidiya at suporta sa mga magsasaka, pinakamainam na tugon vs. inflation, ayon sa isang party-list solon

Pinakamainam pa rin na pantugon para mapababa ang inflation ang pagbibigay ng sapat na suporta sa lokal na mga magsasaka,

Ito ang bingiyang-diin ni AGRI Party-list Representative Wilbert Lee kasunod ng bahaygang pagtaas sa inflationn.

Sa isang forum, sinabi ni Lee na dapat sabayan ng mas maigting na suporta sa local farmers ang tapyas sa taripa ng imported na bigas upang tuluyang mapababa ang presyo nito gayundin ang inflation.

“Sa bawat polisiya ng gobyerno, dapat laging ikonsidera yung ating local food producers, ang ating mga magsasaka. Sila ang aaray dito dahil isang epekto ng pagbaba ng taripa ay pagdagsa ng imported products,” sabi ni Lee.

Sabi pa niya na hindi naman maaaring nakaasa na lang ang bansa sa pag-aangkat ng bigas dahil hindi naman kontrolado ng Pilipinas ang export policy ng ibang bansa maliban pa sa banta ng El Niño, climate change at giyera.

Una nang itinutulak ng mambabatas ang panukalang Cheaper Rice Act, kung saan inaatasan ang Department of Agriculture at iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan na bilhin ang lokal na palay na may P5 hanggang P10 dagdag mula sa umiiral na prevailing price.

Isa rin sa isinusulong na panukala ng kinatawan ay ang pagkakaroon ng dagdag na post-harvest facilities at market linkage para sa mga magsasaka.

“Para madagdagan ang kita ng ating mga magsasaka at masiguro ang mas mataas na produksyon, dapat sapat at tuloy-tuloy ang suporta ng gobyerno mula sa pagtatanim, anihan, hanggang sa paghahatid at pagbebenta ng produkto sa merkado,” dagdag ni Lee. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
