Nakipagtulungan ang Navotas LGU sa Department of Science and Technology (DOST), at Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) para sa pagde-deploy ng Aqua Trash Collector Bot (AQUABOT) sa lungsod.
Pinangunahan ni Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco ang paglagda sa Memorandum of Agreement kasama sina DOST-NCR Regional Director Engr. Romelen Tresvalles, TUP Taguig Campus Director Dr. Rexmell Decapia, Jr. at NBBS Dagat-dagatan Punong Barangay Domingo Elape.
Ang AQUABOT, na binuo ng TUP at pinondohan ng DOST, ay isang remote-controlled na sasakyang pandagat na dinisenyo para sa mabisang pagkolekta ng basura sa urban waterways, gaya ng creeks at mga kanal.
Ayon sa Navotas LGU, may kakayahan ang AQUABOT na makakolekta ng 20 kilo ng basura kada araw.
Unang ide-deploy ang aquabot sa Brgy. NBBS Dagat-dagatan.
Isasailalim naman sa pagsasanay ang 20 indibidwal sa lungsod para mag-operate ng AQUABOT.
“Proper solid waste management is crucial for the health and well-being of our community and the preservation of our environment. The deployment of the AQUABOT represents a concrete step towards cleaner waterways.
