Ipinag -utos na ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. ang temporary ban sa pag-angkat ng domestic at wild birds, kabilang ang kanilang produkto mula sa Minnesota, United States of America (USA).

Ginawa ito ni Secretary Tiu Laurel Jr., dahil sa outbreak ng High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza H5N1 subtype o Bird Flu.

Kinumpirma ng USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service sa DA, ang kaso ng H5N1 infections sa tatlong lugar ng Minnesota nitong Hunyo 12.

Ayon sa kalihim, saklaw din ng import ban ang poultry meat, itlog, day-old chicks at semilya.

Pinasuspinde na ng kalihim sa Bureau of Animal Industry ang pag proseso at pag-iisyu ng Sanitary and Phytosanitary import Clearances para sa mga nasabing produkto.
