DA, tiniyak na nakalatag na ang first border control measures sa unang bahagi ng 2025

Minamadali na ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na gawing operational sa unang bahagi ng 2025 ang mga first border’ control measures.

Layon nitong matiyak ang food safety at maiwasan ang pagpasok ng mga peste sa halaman, at economically significant terrestrial at aquatic animal diseases.

Kasunod na rin ito ng unang kaso ng Q fever sa bansa na nauugnay sa mga imported na kambing mula sa US at patuloy na pagpupuslit sa agrikultura sa bansa.

Sinabi ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. na ang una sa limang Cold Examination Facility for Agriculture (CEFA), isang sanitary/phytosanitary inspection facility para sa mga imported na hayop, isda, halaman at produktong pang-agrikultura ay maagang magsisimula ng operasyon sa susunod na taon.

Kinumpirma ni Laurel, na kasalukuyang gumagawa ang mga pribadong kontratista ng CEFA sa Angat, Bulacan.

Target na maging operational ito sa Enero o Pebrero ng susunod na taon habang ang mga CEFA sa Manila, Subic, Davao at General Santos City ay target na mabuksan sa Setyembre 2025. | ulat ni Rey Ferrer
