Pasado na sa Kamara ang panukalang amyenda sa Republic Act (RA) 10121 o Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.

Layon ng House Bill 10422 na gawing mabilis at epektibo ang pagresponde sa iba’t ibang banta at kalamidad.

Isa na rito ang pagpapabilis at pagpapaikli ng proseso sa paghingi, paglalaan at paglalabas ng pondo para sa pagsasaayos at rehabilitasyon ng infrastructure projects na nasira dahil sa kalamidad.

Pasisimplehin na rin ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) ang rekesitos para dito.

Tanging ang disaster report form na lang ng LGU at listahan ng kailangan ayusin mula sa local engineering office ang hihingin.

Maliban pa rito, isinama na rin ang kalihim ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) sa konseho bilang vice chairperson para sa infrastructure resilience.

Bahagi rin ng amyenda ang pagpapalawig sa paggamit ng National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund ng tatlong taon mula sa kasalukuyang dalawang taon. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
