Pag-inspeksyon ng Chinese Coast Guard sa huling RoRe mission, itinanggi ng NSC

Nilinaw ng National Security Council (NSC) na walang “boarding” at pag-inspeksyon na ginawa ang Chinese Coast Guard sa huling Rotation and Resupply (RORE) Mission sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin Shoal noong July 27, taliwas sa pahayag ng Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Sa isang statement kahapon, sinabi ni NSC Spokesperson Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya na naobserbahan ang presensya ng apat na Chinese Coast Guard vessels, tatlong People’s Liberation Army-Navy vessels, at dalawang Chinese Maritime Militia vessels habang isinagawa ang operasyon.

Pero pinanatili aniya ng mga ito ang kanilang distansya at walang ginawa para hadlangan ang RORE Mission.

Sinabi ni Malaya na ang RORE Mission ay matagumpay na naisagawa sa ilalim ng “provisional understanding” sa China para mapahupa ang tensyon.

Pero binigyang-diin ni Malaya na ang kasunduan ay hindi nagpapabago sa posisyon ng Pilipinas na ang Ayungin Shoal ay hindi pwedeng angkinin ng China at bahagi ito ng Exclusive Economic Zone ng Pilipinas alinsunod sa international law.

Nanindigan ang NSC na hindi kailanman hihingi ng permiso ang Pilipinas sa China para magsawa ng RORE Mission, at inaasahan ang China na tatalima sa mga probisyon ng “provisional understanding.”  | ulat ni Leo Sarne
