Pagkakaroon ng mas maraming soil testing facility nationwide para sa kapakanan ng mga magsasaka, target ng pamahalaan

Tututukan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na mapataas ang bilang ng mga soil testing facility sa buong bansa, na maaaring umalalay sa mga magsasaka partikular sa pagpapanatili ng malusog na lupang sakahan, na siya namang magri-resulta sa mas mataas na agri production sa bansa.

Sa Pre SONA briefing sinabi ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., na isa kasi sa mga nakikita nilang hindi angkop na ginagawa ng mga magsasaka ay ang sobra-sobra o kulang na paggamit ng abono o fertilizer.

Paliwanag ng kalihim, shotgun approach ang ginagawa ng ilang magsasaka. Ibig sabihin, kung ang nakasanayan ay ang paggamit ng 10 bags ng pataba sa isang hektarya ng lupain ito na rin ang ginagawa sa ibang lugar.

Ang problema ayon sa kalihim, bawat lupa ay iba ang kinakailangang volume ng pataba kaya’t kung minsan nasu-sobrahan o nakukulangan ang paggamit ng fertilizer na hindi maganda sa lupang sakahan.

Dito ngayon pumapasok ang mga soil testing center, upang magabayan ang mga magsasaka sa bansa.
