Nagpasalamat si Negros Occidental Representative Francisco “Kiko” Benitez sa suportang ibinibigay ng mga lokal na opisyal ng lalawigan, kasamahan sa Kamara, at education sector para sa posibleng pagiging bagong kalihim ng Department of Education (DepEd).
Kabilang si Benitez sa mga pangalang inendorso ng advocacy group na Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) para maging susunod na Education secretary.
Magkakasunod namang nagpahayag ng suporta sina Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, kapwa mga kongresista na sina Representative Emilio Yulo III (Neg. Occ., 5th District), Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya, at Representative Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) kay Benitez dahil anila sa lawak ng karanasan nito sa education sector.
Kasalukuyang co-chair ng EDCOM 2 si Benitez na dati ring naging pangulo ng Philippine Women’s University. Nagsilbi rin siyang propesor sa University of Washington-Seattle.
Gayunman, ipinauubaya ni Benitez ang pagdedesisyon sa Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Sakali aniya na mapili, handa siyang ibigay ang lahat para makapaglingkod.
Kung hindi man, ay ipagpapatuloy aniya niya ang pagsuporta sa kung sino ang mapipili ng Pangulo upang matugunan ang mga hamon sa sektor ng edukasyon sa bansa.

But even if I am not selected, I will continue to do my part, supporting whomever the President entrusts with this tremendous task.
