Nangako si National Security Adviser Secretary Eduardo Año na tuluyang bubuwagin ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) ang NPA sa termino ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Iniulat ni Año, na siya rin kasalukuyang co-vice chair ng NTF-ELCAC, na mula 2018 nabuwag na ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang politico-military component ng 89 na guerilla front.

Inaasahan din aniya na sa taong ito o sa susunod, tuluyan na ring mabuwag ang natitirang pito na pahinang guerilla fronts.

Ayon sa kalihim, dahil sa ipinatupad na “Whole of Nation Approach” umabot na sa 44,528 miyembro, supporter, at sympathizer ng NPA ang sumuko sa pamahalaan.

Sa ngayon aniya ay 1,251 ang natitirang pwersa ng NPA sa buong bansa.  | ulat ni Leo Sarne
