Single-digit poverty rate, inaasahang makakamit sa 2028 – NEDA

Inaasahang makakamit sa 2028 ang single-poverty rate ayon sa National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) kung saan mas bababa pa ang bilang ng mga mahihirap sa bansa.

Base sa 2023 Full Year Official Poverty Statistics ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na inilabas ngayong araw, July 22, ay bumaba sa 15.5 percent mula sa 18.1 percent ang poverty incidence ng populasyon noong 2021.

Nalampasan nito ang target ng gobyerno na pababain sa 16% to 16.4% poverty incidence para sa 2023 na itinakdang porsiyento sa Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

Samantala, ang bilang ng ‘food-poor families’ ay bumaba sa 740,000 noong 2023 mula sa 1.04 milyong pamilya noong 2021.

Ang average per capita income naman ng bansa ay tumaas ng 17.9% sa pagitan ng 2021 hanggang 2023, na lumampas sa 15.3% na pagtaas sa annual per capita poverty threshold sa kaparehong panahon.

Ayon kay NEDA Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, patuloy nilang pinagtitibay ang mga patakaran at hakbangin sa pagpapasigla ng buhay ng mga Pilipino.

Sa datos ng NEDA, nangangahulugan itong progresibo ang paglago ng ekonomiya sa kabila ng mataas na inflation o antas ng pagtaas ng mga presyo ng bilihin na ating naranasan sa unang kalahati ng 2023. | ulat ni Jollie Mar Acuyong
