AFP, naniniwalang hindi hahantong sa giyera ang tensyon sa WPS

Nagpahayag ng paniniwala si Philippine Navy Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, na hindi hahantong sa giyera ang nagaganap na tensyon sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Ang pahayag ay ginawa ng opisyal kasunod ng huling insidente ng pangha-harass ng China, kung saan binangga ng dalawang Chinese Coast Guard Vessel ang dalawang barko ng Philippine Coast Guard malapit sa Escoda Shoal sa WPS.

Ayon sa opisyal ang agresibong aksyon ng People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), Chinese Coast Guard (CCG), Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) ay palaging hindi lumalagpas sa “threshold of conflict”, at hindi umaabot sa punto na sila ang mag-e-escalate ng sitwasyon.

Bahagi lang aniya ito ng pagtatangka ng Chinese Communist Party na kontrolin ang buong South China Sea, kung saan kabilang ang West Philippine Sea, na itinuturing nilang kanilang sariling bakuran.

Gayunman, tiniyak ni Trinidad na hindi magpapatinag ang Sandatahang Lakas sa pagganap ng kanilang mandato na protektahan ang teritoryo ng bansa sa paraang naayon sa rules of engagement at international law. | ulat ni Leo Sarne
